    @Ravanx: If the problem you have with both XP & Win 7 then probably you have some hardware problem. The 1st thing I would do is get memtest86 to test your RAM if they're all good, if memtest pass then next thing is to get everest software to see if your CPU is overheated. There's other things that would cause your system to freeze but try those 2 first.

    FIXED by disabling USB Root Hub Power Save


    I can't find the original page on which I found this, but a MS Rep advised the following and its finally what worked for me:

    Go to Device Manager
    Expand USB Controllers
    Go to Properties of each USB Root Hub
    Go to Power Management tab and UNcheck all options
    Click OK
    Do this for all USB Root Hubs
    Reboot
    And breathe a sigh of relief

    Worked for me.
