    Windows Explorer Crashes Randomly

    I'm running build 7000.

Sometimes, when I click START> All Programs > Accessories, many of the icons of built-in Windows programs like Paint, Calculator, etc. show up as white boxes.

When I try to click on Paint, for example, nothing happens. A few moments later, I would get a message saying - Windows Explorer Has Stopped Working.

I have installed Windows 7 on four different tablet PCs.

I've had this problem on two Dell Latitude XTs and a HP 2710p. My HP tx1000 has been operating perfectly for over a month now.

Has anyone else seen this issue?

    Start>>Search>>eventvwr.msc

Navigate to Application section and find & read all error messages concern explorer.exe

This is a bug in build 7000. Run SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
This will check for faults. :)

Another check is chkdsk. Run from the search box in start menu.

Yes, I'm having the same problem with explorer crashing.
all the time, can't even end task because task manger seems to be tied in to explorer too. Didn't used to be that way!
I'm having to push a button that I have never had to push before. "RESET"
In fact as I type right now explorer is locked slap up.
So off I go to the button again!

OK I did it and then read the log and saw nothing about explorer.
All though I did see a lot of things fix about sidebar, and a few other things.
And I didn't know any thing was wrong most of the things it did fix.
    "or break"
who said that? well thanks for the tip!:)

Explorer only crashes AFTER the computer wakes up from sleep or hibernation. It crashes when I try to run a program from the start menu. As I described above, the start menu freezes ... and the message "Explorer has stopped working" pops up.

    Help?

I ran this check -- results came back negative.

Hello everyone maybe a little late this one but I had the same crashes with me new win7 and I had this also with my win vista... I had this problem for half year!!!
    Both where 64bits!!.....

I just figured out that maybe the compatibility of firefox ×86 and windows 64bits don't get along with eachother it can makes windows explorer crash.... this is what I think..

After a half year...deleting firefox and it fixt my issue.

Well, this is an option maybe for others.
    Greetings, from DutchLady:)
