W7 64 bit FREEZE when playing games or net

    Hi,
I hope you guys can help, i have read some great stuff on the site but can't seam to fix my problem.

I get a screen freeze and audio loop when using the net or playing games that used to run fine. Sometimes i can be on a web page for 2 minutes, other times 20. Same same with games like COD MW2. The only thing i can do is hold down the power button to shut down nothing else works.

Also sometimes i get a black screen where the display turns off just before it freezes.
    No BSOD so no dump
Attached is a snippet from event viewer but i don't really understand it....NEWB

No problems watching movies, listening to music etc.

    Thanks in advance

Same problem Toshiba Freezes after using it

    Hi,

I am experimenting a similar issue with a new Toshiba A505-S6020 that I recently bought.

    Configuration:
    4Gb.
    500Gb.
    Intel Core i5

Seems like sometimes the notebook freezes without any good reason. I need to reboot it completely and start again.

Anyone knows how I could get any further information about this crash? I am not sure why it happens, but I noticed that sometimes that happened after hibernating.

    Thank you

Although I have not completely eliminated system hangs, I did reduce them to an acceptable level with an adjustment in BIOS to northbridge voltage. Default was AUTO and was running about 1.02v. I bumped this up manually to 1.25v.
Prior to this change COD MW2 would hang after a minute or less.
After changing this setting I can actually play it for hours without a crash.
I read an article that clued me into this setting although I cannot remember where I found it. It was dated "2008" if I recall correctly.

    SPECS
    MSI system bd
    i7 CPU
    Nvidia GT240

Hi, I am glad to hear that you was able to reduce the problem.

Unfortunately I still having the same issue, I think Toshiba or NVidia or Microsoft should be responsible for this issue and find a solution instead of us as users - But well, that would be an utopia I think.

Do you know if it is possible to do that adjustment you did in a Toshiba laptop? I thought in updating the BIOS but I don't want to get other new problems by doing that :s

    What do you think?
