After numerous Install, still crashing

    zigzag41, the attachment for the actual dump is in post #3.

    Pauly, I haven't done a squeaky clean install after totally wiping the disk, yet. I did a "complete" install when moving from Vista 32-bit to Windows 7 64-bit a month or so ago. Yesterday I tried doing a repair install from within Windows, when that didn't alleviate the bad behavior I did another complete install, booting from the CD.

    I have a disc that completely totally erases the hard drive that I can whip out if that will get things straight.

    No i dont think is necessary, didnt see you went from 32 to 64 bit so of course it would have been a clean install

    Have you tried any of the other suggestions, drivers, sfc scan, HDD checks
    Give them a go and post back your results, its a process of elimination

    Always windbg, if multiple dumps then scan with blue screen view to get an idea of whats going on then windbg for analysis, driver info etc

    I ran the five passes of the mem test with zero errors.

    I tried looking up the drivers you listed, the only hits on Google were to other forum sites like this one for all but one of the drivers. I went ahead and bought Paretologic's Drive Cure, which found three down-level drivers, which I installed.

    I downloaded Western Digital's diagnostics for my hard drivers. While trying to install I got a message that it couldn't install because there were an incomplete Adobe installation pending. So I started thinking the trouble could be that I keep hanging on the Adobe Photoshop installation because it got hung before and it's still snarled up with that.

    I removed the Adobe installation, then tried installation again, but it hung half way through again. So I've uninstalled it again.

    I was unable to get the WD diagnostic to run. They don't have anything available yet for Windows 7.

    I ran the system scan and it came up clean.

    I'm wondering if Adobe's uninstall is incomplete and there's still something snarled up that's clogging the installation process. I remember in the "old days" having to go into the registry and manually remove some programs. Could something like that be what's needed here? I know the Creative Suite app's are bad for memory leaks don't know if that could be related to this.

    I'm also wondering if I should try to do a repair install of Windows again. Maybe something's gotten corrupted with the installation routines and re-installing would clear that up.

    Pardon my intrusion. Just thought of adding

    To Remove the Adobe try the REVO Uninstaller

    Also try to Unregister Windows Installer, and then reregister Windows Installer. To do this, follow these steps:Then press Enter

    Start > Run > msiexec /unreg Then press Enter screen will just flash
    Start > Run > msiexec /regserver Then press Enter
    We are doing this because i found that the crash happened while msiexec.exe was running maybe this will fix if something is wrong with Windows Installer.

    I ran the two msi commands. Nothing seemed to happen, is that what I should expect?

    I then tried installing photoshop and acrobat. I got another BSOD.

    Try the DOS, WD diagnostic

    WD Support > Downloads > EIDE (PATA) > WD Caviar RAID Edition

    or

    WD Support > Downloads > EIDE (PATA) > WD Caviar RAID Edition
