Did you change out the drivers which the Win7 installer provided? This is not necessary in Win7 as the installer is driver-complete.

You only need to install drivers which are missing in Device Manager after install and first few Windows Updates where more drivers will be delivered.

So, yes, this could be the root of your problem. Changing out drivers is unnecessary in Windows 7 unless there are performance problems which point to specific drivers.

ok when i have fresh install and only install the windows 7 drivers when its all done i only have 1 missing driver in my device manager, my sd card reader, what should i do ? kuz i have a radeon hd 3200 that needs drivers and a hdmi port on the side of my laptop thats why i need the catalyst control center to switch video settings, im just confused how this os wont go on this laptop, hp sent me the disks, how would they not find out this very obvious problem, also, the hp website tells me to install bios f.4a and the disk when i upgrade from vista to 7 installs bios f.5something ... it seems like the one that came on the disk was working better?
what should i do man im thinking i might just have to go back to vista so all my devices and drivers and programs will work properly

: The embedded controller (EC) did not respond within the specified timeout period. This may indicate that there is an error in the EC hardware or firmware or that the BIOS is accessing the EC incorrectly. You should check with your computer manufacturer for an upgraded BIOS. In some situations, this error may cause the computer to function incorrectly.

make sure you restart after ever driver - only because you are having problems.

once all drivers are installed and machine ( might ) be running ok take a system image.

If you are having problems with a driver go to reliability history. click on the problem- if driver windows will fix it for you. ( we should) click find solution

don't install anything until all drivers are working

run disk clean - get rid of garbage

    defrag

take system image then you can return to this image if you have having problems. with the rest of installation.

wish you the best of mr computer god

    ps

it can take a couple of days for the system to sit stable on your computer after resysteming a couple of times. So maybe you should resystem, install drivers, take system image, install programs, wait 5 days see how it goes. My hp -( resystem over 10 in about 2 months) this time some software crashed 3 -4 time first use. i just ran disk clean, ccleaner and defrag and WAITED. A couple of days later no problem.

Are you using AHCI Sata controller setting? Check in BIOS.

If so, you can install it to test performance then roll it back on device Driver tab in Device manager, or using Restore point.

AHCI is preferred setting but not if it isn't already set there - you'd have to convert or reinstall.
