    Help! Mah Windows 7 aint starting BSOD error


    Hello,

    I turn on me computer and it makes a weird sound and then BlueScreen comes and then it restarts. I can only restart in Safe Mode (no networking)

    Hello,

    It appears to be your network adapter that is causing the issue. Specifically, the athrx.sys file. Try updating your network adapter drivers.

    one question though:
    How do I update the network driver if my computer doesnt start in normal mode? It starts in Safe Mode but there's no network access.

    Sorry, that was an dumb thought on my part. LOL, sorry about that.

    Okay, try booting up in Safe Mode (no network support) and uninstall the drivers from Device Manager and Programs and Features, if applicable.

    Then reboot, and hopefully the drivers Windows finds will work.

    YEAH!!!!! It worked!!
    Windows couldn't find the drivers, but I had a dell CD which had them its working now.

    Just for safe measures I restored my PC about a few weeks back and then I made sure all the drivers were updarted.

    It appears your wireless Atheros card is the problem. The drivers are fairly old, yet Dell has not released any newer drivers for your system.

    Do you actually need the wireless? Could you possibly disable it, and use the wired instead? If so, take the card out of the computer completely. If you need the wireless, purchase a Windows 7 compatible card.

    Is your computer a mini tower, or is it full sized? If mini, be sure to purchase a low-profile card.
