Win 7 Pro 32bit won't start on reboot

This is a brand new clean install of W7 Pro...system working fine previously.

Had a virus/Trojan report from Bit Defender...posted in System Security.

I rebooted to safe mode to see if I had the process right...needed to run a scan in safe mode according to System Security posts. When I rebooted and pressed F8...safe mode began...all the drives scrolled down the screen stopping at Loading:\windows\system32\drivers\classpnp.sys
    and the Please wait....

Waited for about 7 minutes...then rebooted again...this time to normal mode...W7 freezes at the four color starting screen...the little satellite thingies swirl around and the logo forms but nothing else happens...?...again waited five or six minutes and rebooted...same problem.

Tried rebooting to safe mode...same result....stops at clsspnp.sys
    and Please wait ....

    Please help !!

    Thanks, Tim

Can you boot from the Win7 disc>click repair and run start up repair 3 sepertae times.
Then we can go from there.

Ran "Repair 3 times...each time it said something about contacting system administrator...that's me I guess.

read each log and all test reported as successful...?...only strange thing in reports said the following:
system disk=\device\hardisk0 (that is right I think)
    windows directory=N:\windows
    autocheckrun=0
number of root causes = 1

The root cause later on said =

    Root cause found
Boot status indicates that the OS booted successfully

Should not the windows directory=C:\windows ?

    Oh...I ran the "Startup Repair" 3 times...without rebooting ?
Also...accidentally removed all restore points earlier today trying to isolate the virus/Trojan

    Thanks , Tim

p.s. have initial system image cd...don't remember if any programs included or not...and...

I think(?) there is a total "backup (via Windows Backup ) from a day or so ago on another drive in the box....

Win 7 is the only drive/operating system in the box !

    solved...almost

    From my reply in setup/install:

Thanks...tried all the Command Prompt files...but nothing changed...then it dawned on me that the problem pretty much must be with the boot.ini or whatever...the prompts you gave me reported Windows I think as the "X" drive...and the scans run before as suggested in Crashes/Debugging via DVD boot/repair reported the Windows disk as I think N: drive ?

    So...I opened the box and disconnected everything except the C: drive...no DVD's (2) and no data drives (2 Sata non-system drives)...and PRESTO...Windows & booted up normally !!

Now...there's still and issue...added DVD drives one by one and rebooted...no problem...added one Sata drive...rebooted...no problem...but when I added the last Sata Drive ( Sata 3 I believe) then I got the frozen Windows logo screen as before...

Closed down and disconnected last Drive (Sata 3) and Windows again boots normally.

Not sure why the problem seems to be with Sata 3...but will post back if I figure it out...

    Thanks for the help...
