    Random craches windows 7 64bit


    Hi,
    I had client who's running a Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, and it experience on ramdom crashes.

    Before that I'll give you specs:
    AMD athlon X2 4600+
    Asus M2NPV-MX
    Nvidia GeForce 6600
    3Gb DDR-400 all PQI
    3 Slots Sata Drive Bay

    This pc is triple booting with XP 32bit, Vista 64bit and Windows 7 64bit. PC experience with ramdom crashes on vista and 7. All in dutch language.

    I've been reading a lot here regarding BSOD on Windows 7 and what I've done so far is update BIOS from 1100 to 1300. Install the latest drivers from Nvidia. And also I've run the whocrashed software and it gives me these analysis for windows 7:

    1st error: randomly funny, this is caused by ram voltage and the bios (usually Intel). I see that you've already updated the bios, you may need to manually change the voltage... which isn't recommended. 2nd error: Simply a driver update, check manufacturer and wsus... 3rd error: This error has been linked to excessive paged pool usage and may occur due to user-mode graphics drivers crossing over and passing bad data to the kernel code. 4th is same as the 1st.

    ok,
    1 & 4 is done since I already update the BIOS. 2 - done installed the latest update from ASUS and Nvidia.
    And lastly 3, what should I do with this? Can this solve by using the latest driver of the Video card and set the bios settings to recommended settings?

    A scattering of memory dump errors such as yours is suggestive of a hardware problem - but there's several steps that have to be taken in order to be sure of this. Things like lower level drivers and incompatibility issues can masquerade as hardware problems.

    So, let's start with updating this lower-level driver: ASACPI.sys Sun Mar 27 22:30:36 2005
    This is a known causer of BSOD's, so it's important to update it to the latest version.
    It is a component of the Asus ATK0110 ACPI Utility and can be downloaded from the Asus website.

    - download the Vista x64 version (it's also Win7 compatible) of the ATK0110 driver package from here: ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support- download_item_mkt
    - double click on the file and extract it to a location that you choose
    - navigate to the folder named "64" (in the extracted files) and double click on the AsAcpiIns.exe file to install it.

    Thanks for the reply usasma, I will do that once I've done testing all the memory. As of this moment I've found one bad memory.

    I'm planning to do a clean install on the system, and do all the things that is suggested from this thread. I will give feedback Once I receive another BSOD.

    sorry, i took me too long to give update.

    usasma, I already did what you me to do to update the ATK0110 driver. But after awhile I receive and BSOD regarding the nvlddmkm.sys. I search the internet about it, and I fix it by removing all the drivers and installing it again. Then replace the nvlddmkm.sys in c:\windows\system32\drivers from the nvidia drivers by expand the nvlddmkm.sy_.

    Right now, I don't receive any bsod (hope so). But I will post back to give update if it is a success or not.

Windows 7 64bit random crashes
