    Serious BSOD problems

I have spent all week trying to resolve BSODs with my computer. The first one happened on Monday when playing a game. After that I could not even boot into Windows 7 (32bit)without a BSOD. I decided to try to reinstall Windows. Now I get BSOD when attempting to install from the disc! I tried installing 32 and 64bit Windows install discs. Same problems.

It would be important to note that my computer was overclocked. From 2.66GHz to 3.0GHz. I have aftermarket CPU cooling so there were no heat issues. Isn't it possible that the OC fried my CPU or mobo? How would I test for this?

I have concluded that it is unlikely to be a driver problem or incompatible hardware since I was running Windows 7 for 3 months.

Some troubleshooting I have done so far:
    • Tested memory with memtest
    • Tried installing with 2GB of RAM
    • Disconnected all unnecessary hardware
    • Reburn install disc on slowest write speed
    • Different build of Win7
    • Upgrade BIOS
    • Downgrade BIOS
    • Use default BIOS settings
    • Disable C1E and EIST in BIOS
    • Formatted HDD
    • Different video card, keyboard, mouse
    • Reformatted HDD

Does Windows save minidumps for BSODs that occur during install?

Some examples of BSOD error messages:
    SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
    IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
    (Uncorrectable hardware error 0x00000124)
and others... I can post some more of the stop codes when I get home tonight.

    Specs
    Intel Core 2 Quad 6700
    Asus P5N-T Deluxe
4GB DDR2 1066 (Note: with default BIOS settings running at 800MHz)
    Asus GeForce 9600GT

I am going to rule out HDD errors tonight by running chkdsk or using another disk. I will post results.

Any ideas of what to do next? I need help from you other computer nerds out there! I am going insane with these BSODs. Please help! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I just remembered one more BSOD error I received often:
    PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA 0x00000050

    Hi, Welcome to SF,

Here is the link which you could try https://www.sevenforums.com/crash-loc...-what-try.html. And Yes Overclocking can cause BSOD

    Hope this helps,

    Hi Chris and welcome

bugcheck 124 is hardware related. there is a good tutorial here https://www.sevenforums.com/crash-loc...-what-try.html on what it means and how to fix it.

Its a good place to start.

I would download memtestx86 and run it for 5 passes to test your ram
    run a system file check
type cmd in search>right click and run as admin>sfc /scannow

If you are still overclocking STOP
If you are running a raid update its drivers

We can give you additional information if you can get the dmp files to us use these to find and upload them. https://www.sevenforums.com/crash-loc...d-problem.html

thanks and let us know if you need help

Thanks for the quick replies Captain and Ken.

I read that post about 0x124 errors before. Most of it did not apply now since I am getting BSODs on install and cannot get into Windows!

Ken, I said in my post that memtest passed and I cannot use any Windows tools since I cannot install/run it.

I should note though that I am not using RAID.

    Any more ideas?

It completed a few passes and no it is no longer overclocked.
I can run memtest some more just in case.

Ok i guess the best bet would be the remove the RAM just have one RAM plugged in remove all the unnecessary hardware like if have a external Graphic card remove it and have the on-borad Graphic card also if its a Desktop open the side cover and have a Table fan so in case if there is a heat issue this will resolve it

    Good Luck,

I currently have only one stick of RAM in and there is nothing connected that is unnecessary. My mobo does not have onboard graphics so I need the video card to be able to see anything!

I will try to find a table fan, I don't think I have one. It is winter time here in Canada though. Maybe I should just put the pc outside
