Just ran memtest a couple times. No errors.
I also received a new error message when trying to install windows again.

I ran chkdsk and it found errors. I was very hopeful the BSODs would be resolved when chkdsk fixed the HDD errors. No luck though. 6 hours later I am back where I started. I tried a few different BIOS firmwares before with the same problems.
I also ruled out cooling issues.
I am on the verge of giving up. I have been looking at parts for upgrading. $800 to go to i7 makes me want to give this one more shot! Unfortunately I am lead to believe that either the CPU and/or mobo are shot. If anyone has an idea to prove that it is not a problem with either of them I would be very glad to hear it!

I just received a BSOD from installing Win7. STOP code 0x00000124.
I connected the HDD to another computer and looked at the files. There is a Windows directory with lots of stuff in it but no minidump directory. In the BSOD screen it said it was dumping data to the disk. So where is it? I figured if I could get a minidump then it would help figure out exactly what the hardware problem is.
Thoughts?

If any memory dumps were created they would be in the %systemroot%\windows\minidump folder
Before you give up on it have you tried rebuilding the machine, remove and reinsert all cards and ram etc checking all is seated properly and all slots are free of dust and dirt, check cpu is seated properly and clamped down etc
Directory does not exist.
I guess I will be buying a new processor tomorrow. I am out of ideas.
Sonce there are more than 1 type of BSOD's and they are not consistent i suspect a flakey PSU...
Borrow a known good one of the same or greater wattage and swap it in there for a day or so.
Thanks for the reply. I haven't thought of that! I will give it a shot.

I was never able to fix the problems. I bought a new CPU/mobo and it works fine now. One of those must have been brucked.
