Welcome!
Try opening Task Manager and ending half the processes. Make note of which ones, and then try to shutdown.
If it works, we can determine which application is causing the issue. If not, try ending the other half.
i have this exact same problem but when its on the shutting down screen i cant use task manager for some reason to find out which programmes are the problem??
Hi,your system is overwriting the pagefile at shutdown, that's why it takes to long to shuttdown, what you can do is the nextpen your registry,go to--->START,RUN and type REGEDIT, hit enter or ok,backup your entire registry{just in case},click on EXPORT at the top of the registry window left, and save it to any place you want, then go to---> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE--->SYSTEM--->CURRENTCONTROLSET--->CONTROL--->SESSION MANAGER--->MEMORY MANAGEMENT and find the key"ClearPageFileAtShutdown" if this key is set to "1" you must change it to "0",right clic on the key, clic on MODIFY and set it to "0",clic ok,close the registry and restart your system, that's all.
When you go--> to the registry and if you don't see that registry key, you must create an key right there ,you do the next:
follow all the steps i said on the first post t'ill MEMORY MANAGEMENT,right clic on it and point your mouse on NEW and choose DWORD VALUE {32 bits} key, then will open the key,on the key you write--> "ClearPageFileAtShutdown" without quotes, then clic on the white area and you're done, close your registry and restart your system.
what if its already 0 and it still wont shut down
ive found out what the problem was, it was an application that was causing the problem, i found it out by using the event viewer to track it down, what a great tool that is!!
