I see some indication that your Norton/Symantec protection may be causing this. As such, please follow these steps to rule it out:
Anti-Virus Removal:
Please do the following:
- download a free antivirus for testing purposes:
Free AntiVirus
- uninstall the Norton from your system (you can reinstall it, if so desired, when we're done troubleshooting)
- remove any remnants of Norton using this free tool:
Download and run the Norton Removal Tool
-
IMMEDIATELY install and update the free antivirus
- check to see if this fixes the BSOD's
Not a whole bunch of info available from the dump files. There is an error relating to hpdskflt.sys (HP Disk Filter driver) - so replacing that might help. Other than that, the predominant error is in the stack:
Code:
nt!KeBugCheckEx+0x1e
nt!PnpBugcheckPowerTimeout+0x57
nt!PopBuildDeviceNotifyListWatchdog+0x16
The stack is read from the bottom up - in this case the Watchdog is running (which suggests a "locked" condition with a driver) and it occurs in the context of the Power manager, then a Timeout is generated in the PnP manager, which then results in the BugCheck (BSOD).
All of this tells me that it's either a problem with the Power Management, or with the Plug and Play stuff on the system. And, IME, the Power Management is the most likely scenario. Since there were significant changes made in the storage drivers in Win7 (and they relate to power management), this implies that things like the hpdksflt.sys file could be causing it (this also emphasizes the need to update the storage drivers listed as "older" in the table below).
Also, please remove these older drivers that were loaded at the time of the crash. Don't use Windows Update or the Update drivers function of Device Manager.
Please use the following instructions to locate the most currently available drivers to replace the one's that you uninstall/remove:
How To Find Drivers:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (
DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.
- some driver links are on this page: http://www.carrona.org/drvrdown.html
Here's the older drivers. Please pay particular attention to any dated 2007 or earlier:
Code:
iirsp.sys Tue Dec 13 16:48:01 2005 - Intel Raid StorPort Drive
djsvs.sys Tue Apr 11 20:20:11 2006 - Adaptec Ultra SCSI miniport
nfrd960.sys Tue Jun 06 17:12:15 2006 - IBM ServeRAID Controller Driver
adpu320.sys Tue Feb 27 19:03:08 2007 - Adaptec .NET Ultra320 Driver
adpahci.sys Tue May 01 13:29:26 2007 - Adaptec Windows SATA Storport Driver
arc.sys Thu May 24 17:31:06 2007 - Adaptec RAID Storport Driver
SCDEmu.SYS Mon Aug 06 20:15:06 2007 - PowerISO Virtual Drive driver
000.fcl Fri Sep 26 09:11:12 2008 - Cyberlink CD/DVD driver
adp94xx.sys Fri Dec 05 18:59:55 2008 - Adaptec HostRAID SAS Driver
lsi_fc.sys Tue Dec 09 17:28:47 2008 - LSI Logic Fusion-MPT FC Driver (StorPort)
SiSRaid2.sys Wed Sep 24 14:19:45 2008 - SiS RAID Stor Miniport Driver
sisraid4.sys Wed Oct 01 17:52:22 2008 - SiS AHCI Stor-Miniport Driver
As this seems to be an HP system - many of the loaded drivers are unnecessary. But we've either got to update them or disable them to make sure that the source of this problem is dealt with.
