It turns on but the screen is blank the fans move, and the disc drive begins to spin, I have only put it in sleep mode once and this is my result. Again I am not able to reboot or do anything on windows, I am stuck in this phase

    Try these two steps first:

Plug in an external screen to any display input you have on your laptop to see if your VGA still works. Wait a couple of minutes, If you still receive a black screen from there, you should press your "Fn" key combined with the key with a display-icon on your keyboard.

Do a check if your LCD backlight-button / hibernation-button on you laptop is stuck or not if it's in vision.

It certainly sounds like a bad screen, if the screen never turns on, even after a reboot.

Yeah but its not just the screen thats not working, it the processor itself, it isn't doing any computations such as the light does not flicker at all

I have found something on some site that may be helpful in the 'black screen after wake up' issue.

It is so simple, it is ridiculous...may not work for everybody but works for me.

The problem seems to be that the display turns off due to some reason, everything else is working in the background. Just press the brightness increase/decrease button present on the keyboard (usually in the function keys at the top) and voila...the display is back and you can see the login screen just fine.

I am trying to find the reason for this but I used to power off my laptop and turn it on again every time earlier ...but now no need...I can just continue work where I left off.

    Hope it helps.
