    Random BSODs, with Extreme Frequency

    Attached is a minidump.

This problem started just a week or so ago, but it's crippling my system. I BSOD anywhere from 15 minutes to 1 hour after having booted up, invariably.

I just installed new memory, 8GB (4x2GB G. Skill DDR2 PC6400), so I figure it has to have something to do with that. I just don't know the solution - bigger PSU? Update BIOS? Please help! Thanks in advance.

    Hi, Welcome to SF

Dump reads 0x4E error, BSOD Index
and blames memory corruption so is probably related to new ram

Check all ram settings in bios voltages/timings/frequency and make sure they are the same as the manufacturers stated specs, bios ram settings on auto are not always correct
Is the new ram the same as original if not that may be the problem and is the ram listed as compatible with your motherboard

Check these things and if there ok it may be you were supplied with faulty ram, try running memtest86 to test the ram and see if it finds any errors Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

Hope this helps, post back your results

Full system specs will be required if you want some info on how to adjust your bios settings to help support the 8Gb memory.

Just posted all my specs on my profile. My motherboard is definitely qualified for the memory - I did a good bit of research before buying it - G.SKILL-Products

5-5-5-15 looks good in the BIOS, as well.

Is faulty memory the final option? I'll run memtest, and post what it spits out here shortly.

Oookay, so I'm pretty sure I've got a problem. I just woke up and checked memtest in the middle of its 3rd pass - I have 66,048 errors and counting.

What could possibly be this wrong? This memory is supposed to be compatible with my motherboard! And 700W should be enough to power these, right? I had 4x1GB DDR2 PC6400 before this, and everything was hunky-dorey.

Most of the errors appear to be coming from Test #6, if that means anything. I was reading earlier that interpreting causes of specific failures is ludicrous.

Anyway, is it time to send these sticks back to NewEgg? And if I do - should I get replacements of this same module, or should I go with an entirely new brand? I really need to be running 8GB - I do 3D design, so ram = more polygons = more detail.

now you know your getting errors test a single stick at a time to see if its just one
