I recently purchased the corsair tx750. Likely overkill for my needs. They have a tx650 but they have a vx550 or 450 which is plenty for most systems. Corsair has a tool on their site PSU finder which recommends the size based on devices, overclocking and such.
I somewhat based my purchase on reviews from such sites as AnandTech, Toms Hardware, MaximumPC, and shopping sites like Newegg.
The only power supply I have had die was a modular Enermax unit. Unless the problem with my other PC is the PSU. It too is shutting down suddenly, thus the reason for stumbling across your thread. That PSU is a OCZ 600, but to be fair I am unsure if that is the issue.
If you do any PSU research please post. I am curious who makes these units for OCZ, Corsair, and others.

i just bought a Corsair Tx850w based on some reviews and forums, i have only 1 day with it and i already love it, it really have a stable power.

i have a pair of ram ddr2 1066 wich i used to run at 800mhz because of my old PSU wich was uncapable of providing stable power, i had a lot of problem with the BSOD, now they are running just fine at 1066mhz with 5-5-5-15 timings.

i recommend this PSU unless u don`t have enough space in the case to put aside all the cables u won`t use.(its a bunch of cables)

about your OCZ, its just shutting down without BSOD? are you able to turn it on again right away? or do u hear any weird or sparky sounds before it shut down?
because that was pretty much my symptoms, No BSOD, i couldn`t turn it on right away without unplugging the PSU cable for 10 secs and i was able to hear sparky sounds right before it shut downs. (this last one start to happen in the last stage of the problem)

No BSOD. Windows starts all the way, able to open programs, surf, or whatever. Within minutes it just shuts down. The time frame varies and I thought perhaps a software/driver issue as it didnt happen at first while in Safe Mode, but it does in Safe Mode too and I have not done enough experimentation to see if it is behaving different in Safe Mode or just part of the time variable.
What puzzles me is that I changed cases, was of course careful and grounded, everything is nice and clean and that was a good week before any problems surfaced? I have double checked everything but can't help think that the problem is related. Could just be a coincidence.
There are no sparks, nothing in the system is warm, and I can start it right back up. But as you said that was towards the end stage of your PSU.

Just an up date. Tested the OCZ along with an older Enermax that seemed bad, both failed the PSU tester. Replaced it. Put the Corsair 750 in my older rig and bought the 850 for my new build. The Corsair warranty is nice. Will check into OCZ warranty, folks seem to like them, maybe just bad luck. Really enjoy the OCZ forum - helpful and responsive. Just like this one!
