BSOD upon start-up, mini-dump attached
Hello,
This is my first post, so if I forgot to do something or did it incorrectly, feel free to let me know.
I bought an HP Pavillion last August, and it came with Windows Vista, and the promise that I would get a free upgrade to Windows 7 when it came out. After going through a fair amount of headaches and red-tape, I finally got my upgrade disc. I upgraded my OS last Monday. I was given instructions to remove anti-virus software (which was preventing installation), and I was also told that iTunes and my keyboard may cause issues upon upgrade. I figured this just meant that they might not perform as well, so I ignored it and continued with the upgrade.
The first time I booted up Windows 7, I got a BSOD within seconds after my desktop loaded completely. Sometimes I will get a few minutes (one time, I even got about an hour or so) before the BSOD hits. I was able to uninstall iTunes, and run Blue Screen Viewer. Blue Screen Viewer told me that it was likely that my ntoskrnl.exe was causing the problem. After researching ntoskrnl.exe, I found out that it is sometimes caused by keyboard driver issues, but I can't be sure that is the problem.
If anyone thinks it will help, I can post the exact text of my BSOD. However, since I was unsure if I needed to do so, I opted to include the mini-dump files for now. I can also say that the BSOD always includes the text "SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION."
I would like to resolve this problem without losing my current data (I was foolish and didn't back it up), and without needing to restore my system to Vista and have to upgrade all over again. If anyone can help me resolve this problem, I would be extremely grateful. Thanks!
