ntoskrnl.exe crashing computer once on start-up?

I recently reformatted and reinstalled everything on my computer. I was using Windows 7 32-bit with the release candidate. After backing up my important files and reformatting both hard drives I installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

Before the reformat I was having trouble with my computer restarting (usually with a blue screen) once (and only once) every time I started my computer for the first time during the day. This blue screen does not happen on regular restarts or if my computer has just been off for a few minutes.

One more note: I have tested my RAM multiple times for errors and everything comes up clear.

So now after the reformat and the new 64-bit OS, I am getting the same problem. Almost every time the crash happens it has a new or different error message. To try to find the source of these problems, I installed WhoCrashed to try to help.

WhoCrashed now has a list of crashes and almost every one of them (the one exception currently being from a firewall I had that clashed with the anti-virus) points at ntoskrnl.exe as the source of the problems. Here are the examples:

As you can see, there are different error messages, which I can only guess relate to the stage of start-up the computer is in when it crashes. Sometimes it is almost immediately after turning the computer on, sometimes it is shortly after Windows starts loading, and sometimes it is at around the point when the desktop shows up.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to what to do?

Hello,

I would recommend opening an elevated command prompt and entering sfc /scannow

That will scan your system files and make sure they are healthy.

Hope this helps,
~JK
