    new W7 x64 Pro install, first BSOD web editing


    Hi Guys,

    I'm really at a loss here, entirely new components except for the graphics card and HDDs.

    OS: Windows 7 x64 Pro
    CPU: Intel i5-750 2.66Ghz Quad (not overclocked)
    RAM: 8GB XMS3 (4x 2GB)
    GPU: Leadtek GeForce 7950GT

    I'm running dual displays at 1920x1080 on each. At the time I had Windows Media Center running watching TV via my tuner card one screen, and was adjusting some web code using Dreamweaver and Firefox with a few Explorer windows open on the other screen. I suspect it's likely the graphics card or display driver error as it is quite old, I ran the Update Advisor but it said everything was fine. Have been trying to sort out the .dmp file myself but struggled to find anything on Google, any help very much appreciated, especially as I just found myself involuntarily Ctrl+S'ing every sentence of an essay I'm writing

    Hello,
    The dump was indeed caused by the Video driver.

    You should also update these drivers:

    Thanks heaps, have since found a manual update for the display driver, couldn't get any newer versions for those other ones though. Hopefully it'll all be sweet now. Thanks again

    ah, spoke too soon. It happened again, dump attached. This time I had Media Center and Firefox going again, I think I might have to pin the blame on WMC? The screen flashed black a couple times, resumed, then came back again with the BSOD.

    Over the past couple of days it has sometimes randomly flashed blank, and I can't think of anything new I installed which would exacerbate the problem

    you have a power supply with only 16 Amps on the +12 volt rail upgrade your power supply get something with a single +12 volt rail that puts out around 35 amps

    I have latest nVidia driver (192.21) for Windows 7 x64, so I'm going to assume the stops are being contributed by something else, TV tuner/media center perhaps?

    @computerplus are you suggesting the GPU might not have received enough power or having a higher current on a single rail is better practice?

    Hey all so I have upgraded PSU, unfortunately I couldn't find anything with a single high current rail but got one that met the rating for my GPU card... or so it would seem.

    It's been better, but now I hit another BSOD. Exactly same as last time, running Media Center while typing in a browser, dual view 1920x1080 on each.

    I am wondering, is it just Media Center? Because it doesn't happen with the likes of VLC. Or have I still not got enough Amps going to the GPU. Suggestions appreciated
