    PC freeze/lockup problem

Occasionally my system locks up without any warning and no bsod, have to hit the reset button on case to do anything. Computer freezes while using flash media (youtube, hulu) including some add banners or other flash based games. It will freeze while looking at any PDF file, and sometimes it will freeze while just sitting idle, even in safe mode. The freeze is not immediate, it will usualy run said programs for up to 10 minutes before freezing. However it never freezes while playing Champions Online, or battlestations
Pacific. Any DVD runs fine with no error aswell.

At first I thought it was a memory problem, but I ran about 30 passes of memtest with no errors. Event viewer only shows a Kernel-Power id 41 category 63 error. I have reseated the RAM and video cards, checked to make sure everything was pulged in firmly. Computer temps are always around 35-40 when the freeze occurs. Not sure what i should do next to reslove this issue, any advise is welcome.

    Hello zanzuken Welcome to SF,

Most of the times the Feezing issue happens when there are some bad or out-dated drivers. Make sure you have all your drivers up-to-date. If it freezes when you play flash contents then remove your Flash completetly and reinstall it. Try with a different browser. Make sure not Antivirus / Firewall is not blocking it.
Try to reboot the System in Selective Startup see whether your having the same issue.

    Hope this helps,
    Captain

I have been battling with this problem for a while, the problem is as of yet unsolved. The issue is Adobe Flash Player not being compatible with 64 bit browsers on Quad core systems. It also has problems with 32 bit browsers on 64 bit systems with quad cores. I have tried all kinds of beta flash players, other browsers and even other operating systems. Adobe are no help, one thing you can try is

    hit ctrl+alt+del
    go to task manager
    find BOTH iexplore processes
right click on each and hit Set Affinity
Select only one of your four processors for each (must be the same one)

This might get you up and running until Adobe gets its ass in gear and does its job properly.

Though I have a Windows Vista OS, I also have/had this problem. I found the 'running the browser on one CPU at a time fix' worked a treat. Thanks for the advice. :)

    computer freezing and locking up

I am having a major problem with my computer freezing up and locking up as well. It happens mostly when I am online, but it happened sometime as well when I am not. It startes out by having a delay when I am clicking on something on the screen (that is how I know it is about to freeze), then it will eventually just freeze up. I can still move the mouse but I cannot click on anything. My ending result is for me to press ctrl+alt+del to just restart the computer. I also get an error message often that says that "internet explorer has stopped working and had to reopen the tab". I am not computer savy so, can someone help me, explain to me, and walk me through how to fix this issue please and thank you ahead of time
