Brand new Win 7 randomly shutting down

    Here is the problem:

I received my new system yesterday, and it works amazing well. Unfortunately, at random times, the computer will freeze for 15-30 ish seconds, then shut down and not restart. When i restart the system, i get the option to boot in safe mode. I choose to boot normally.

    I purchased the following system:
    i5-750
    Asus P7h55d-m Evo MOBO
    GX 650w PSU
    4gb DDR3 kingston ram
    ATI Saphire HD 5670 512mb
    Antec three hundred case
    640gb WD HD
    Asus ms238 monitor
    and a samsung dvd player
The OS is Win 7 64bit

Since yesterday, this has happened at least 5 times. Keep in mind i was at work today, so the system really hasn't had much use. I've only had time to install my files, AVG, google chrome, dropbox, itunes 64bit, windows live mail, and office 2007.

I've updated all the drivers through the windows update and that hasn't solved anything.

CPU running at 2% and ram at 34% according the the Win 7 gadget. Temperature never exceeding 34 celcius and usually around 32.

Also, i am not getting any error messages. The computer just randomly shuts down at random intervals. Looked on google and it seems im not alone, but havn't found a solution.

    Thank you,

    Francois

Mmm, this is worrying as I have more or less the same rig as you even down to the same video card, and I'm experiencing the same random crashes. I'm just starting to re-install my software and every now and then the computer freezes then crashes, switching itself off. I've used the latest drivers, updated the bios stripped out anything that could conflict and still this is happening?
I've changed various settings in the bios but there's so many variables its hard to say what could be causing the problem? Having said that when everything is set to auto this shouldn't be happening?

    Might have to go back?

I've gotten rid of google chrome; that didn't help.
Switched from avg 9 to 8.5, that didnt help
Now i've gotten rid of AVG entirly and replaced it with mcafee

My next step is to call the shop were i bought the system. Unfortunatly i need it for school badly and don't have time to waste having my pc over there.

Im guessing something may be wrong with the graphics card or some otehr hard drive. Unfortunatly, everyhting out there about win7 has t do with blue screens, which i am not getting.

Computer still crashed with McAfee, so i doubt anti virus is the problem.

Could it be something with the mother board?

    Or perhaps my wireless adapter?

I've not got any anti virus running and switched from a nvidia 8800gt to an ati 4670 graphics card and still it shuts down? I've run prime95 stress test for an hour and it came up with nothing? Updated all the drivers and played around with various settings that might cause a power spike and nothing makes any difference. The other posts I've read suggest a memory problem but how can I tell what it is?

I've emailed ebuyers tech support to see if they're aware of any issues but as I need a stable pc this lot might have to go back at some point?

Even if yo are not getting a BSOD it will register an event in event viewer. type eventvwr in search go to windows log>application tab and check for critical errors (they have red in the left hand column) that say something like agg hang, app crash, restart, etc.

When you find them use snipping tool (built in) to make a screen shot and upload it using the attachment icon(shaped like a paper clip)

    see PIcs

Here's a screenshot of my last switch off this afternoon.

I don't know what caused the crash?

I've attached mine. Seem to coincide with what is going on in terms of frequency of shutdowns. So im guessing this would be it.

    Any clue?

You could chase this 'til the end of time... Bet anything it's a hardware problem so take it back to whoever you paid to build it.
