    BSOD - irql_not_less_or_equal


    Hi there,
    I hope a kind soul can help with an issue driving me crazy since mid-week.
    Up until mid week I hadn't any BSOD issues with the system. The only system change over the past week I can think of was an update from Norton Antivirus (maybe also Windows update). On startup I'd get the BSOD and get no further.
    Starting up in SAFE mode I saw the following system devices weren't functioning correctly:
    Consumer IR Devices
    eHome Infraed Receiver (USBCIR)

    Having done a system restore (to a time pre-Norton update), everything seemed fine. Thinking Norton was the issue, I set about removing it from my system (replacing with MSE) but after the Norton-remover had performed and went to restart, I got the BSOD again. Just done another system restore and installed MSE again (as I think Norton is no longer working).
    Loathe to shutdown the system now in case of BSOD again!

    Basic info:
    - x64
    - It's the original installed OS on the system
    - OEM
    - System about 15 months old

    Also run a system file check to verify your OS files.

    To do this type cmd in search, then right click to run as administrator, then
    SFC /SCANNOW

    Hi.
    Please update your usb drivers in Device Manager.
    If the problem occurs again,uninstall any recent installed usb hardware and driver for example,usb keuboard,mouse,hub etc.
    For now try the above and please post back with any results.

    Thanks for advice. Just going through the tutorial "USB Driver - General Fix for Problems"; up to "9. Now uninstall all USB devices"; daft question (I'm kinda new to this) but does that mean to remove all devices under "USB Controllers" (I just don't want to remove something that's gonna cause more grief than what I've got at the moment; I've attached what drivers are listed)?
    I've gone through most of them to update but apparently they're all up to date so far.

    Ur dump points to usbhub.sys,thats a USB hardware/driver problem.
    So if you dont want to remove ALL ur usb drivers then....
    ...uninstall them one by one especially recent installed usb hardware and driver.
    For example:if recently you have installed a new usb mouse remove the mouse and its driver ,and wait for the results,if the problem occurs again try with other usb hardware/driver,thing and act :)

    Thanks again for guidance. In the event I deleted the USB divers but was still having issues on startup. I managed to reinstall Norton (which as far as I could remember was the only thing which had changed on my computer recently), and hey presto, it seems to be working now. I've found on a few msg boards there seems to be issues with Norton causing BSOD.

    And yes norton in many cases gives BSOD.how?(common sense),in real time protection sometimes (false)conflict with drivers,as USB drives,in is aggressive scan deletes/quarantine a driver or system file,and you get the BSOD)
    When i tested norton i personally had many false alerts and norton deleted some of my personal useful files,thats why i dont like that a.v.
    If you face often problems with norton you can always remove it and use the....
