Thanks, I got rid of Roxio and I will look at the list and see what else there is that might need upgrading. So far no crashes in 5 days.
Thanks again for all the assistance and the referral to the cd burner.

I ran your Dump file. Just out of curiosity can i asked where did you get your Copy of Windows ?? Because its not retrieving any Build information. Also the Kernel date "ntoskrnl.exe" seems to be different and No Symbols on Microsoft website for this version.

Windows 7

I first bought my pc around the first of the year. I experienced problems with it and since Dell would charge me for software they decided to replace, the memory, the optical drive and finally the hard drive around early Feb. My initial problem resolved itself after this .
Looking at the system information it just says Windows7 home edition 2009. Is there a way to find out any more info than that?
What does this indicate?

"Also the Kernel date "ntoskrnl.exe" seems to be different and No Symbols on Microsoft website for this version. "
Thanks

I had another thought, when this blue screen crash happened the screen stayed up . Before, the crashes came and went in a flash or I didn't see them at all. Just a message saying my pc had recovered from a crash. This time I waited for the screen to disapear and when it didn't after a minute I turned the machine off, could I have interrupted the process.. It did have a message on the blue screen saying it was "gathering information"

Windows 7 - Vista

Hi -

I get the same symbol errors on the NT Kernel. The Microsoft MSDL SYM site used to obtain symbol files to identify Microsoft OS drivers is unable to ID the NT Kernel in your Windows system. I don't know the reason for this. Unfortunately, there is little we can do with dump files without the corresponing symbol files.

A few things to try -

Run the System File Checker/ Repair utility -
START | type cmd.exe into the start search box | right-click on cmd.exe | select run as Administrator | type the following:
Code:
sfc /scannow
Upon completion re-boot to allow files in use to be repaired.

SFC general info - How to repair the operating system and how to restore the operating system configuration to an earlier point in time in Windows Vista

SFC & the CBS log - How to analyze the log file entries that the Microsoft Windows Resource Checker (SFC.exe) program generates in Windows Vista

Validate your Windows OS installation at the Microsoft Genuine Advantage site.

There were " no integrity violations" I assume that means there were no files to repair?

Windows 7 - Vista

Bugcheck 0x9f (0x3,,,) = driver in an inconsistant state of power and is blocking an IRP for too long a time.

IRP = I/O Request Packet

Do you have an Internet Security app installed, e.g., NIS, N360, KIS, McAfee, etc...?

Are your NIC drivers up-to-date?
