Since it is a chip, the HP site is the best bet.
I went to HP's site and it says they do not offer updates for Windows 7......what should i do.
I would like to have this up and running flawless before school starts.
should i switch to XP or what?
I do suggest switching to XP. That will give us enough time to work on a hardware problem, should the BSODs persist.
if i get the 32 bit version of Windows 7 will that help at all?
It might work a little better than the 64 bit; but you are still faced with the fact that HP does not offer updates for Windows 7 for your machine.
okay so the plan is just to switch to XP for permanent because HP does not support my machine????
Thats a bummer but whatever works!!!!
thanks everyone for the help.
Do you think HP will ever come out with any updates or is this just a permanent deal.
I'm looking at a gettign a new laptop for grad school.....do you have any suggestions as far a brand that seems to work with out any hitches at all?
Unfortunately, you are correct. It is called planned obsolescence in order to sell new machines. Keep in mind that the hardware in your machine is older, too, and may not support some of Win 7's features. In the long run, you are better off getting a new machine.
My only advice is to get a good machine capable of running Win 7 64 bit. Get at least a middle grade machine, not a bargain machine. The guys in the hardware section of the forum could give you you plenty of advice - probably more than you ever wanted.
The best to you.
hey guys one last question.
my computer won't even start now it just gets past the HP screen and keeps crashing with a BSOD or anything.
Should i just get the xp cd and hope that it loads from that or what do i do. i can't even get to the option to do safe mode .
thanks again
Try booting from a Windows 7 repair disc or installation disc.
You can create one if you don't have one already: System Repair Disc - Create
