Dead SSD?
Yesterday morn. I came back to my computer to find it stuck at the boot screen with a 'Missing MBR" error.
After some checking around i noticed the bios wasnt posting the SSD (that Windows is on) However after a Hard Reset of the MOBo, everthign was fine again, minus alot of check disk errors.
I didnt see any immediate reasons for the crash, and decided to roll back 3 days with a Acronis image just in case. Unfortunatly it would just hang at 50% and all HD activity would cease. I tried 3 times, and all disk activity would stop at 40-50% through..
The 4th try, I used a 1 week old image and all went fine. At this point I assume its a corrupt image.
Then last night It booted, but shortly after the desktop appeared I got "Acronis has stopped Working" and everything was locked down.
I could open the start menu for a plain empty box but that was it. No apps loaded, task manager, CTRL+ALT+Del .. nothing would respond.
Rolled back to the week old image and all was good again. I now think Acronis was the cause, (an apparent corrupt image, and now this error locking boot and corrupting the drive again)
Then tonight, yet another BSOD, resulting in MBR missing error.
Attemting to re-image with Acronis is Impossible as it can no longer see the drive starting today.
Bios no longer shows the SSD listed either, only the other 2 spinning disks i have.
I have tried resetting CMOs, optimized default bios as well optimized default. After which, i can not get past the splash screen.
It now will hang ... and say ""Error -- SATA Port 0 reinstall""
If I move the SSD to any other port, I get the hang at boot with the same error, except "Error SATA Port 2 reinstall" or whatever # port
If I remove the SSD, the other 2 post and are perfectly fine in any port.
I even managed imageing to a partition on a spinning drive to get running again.
It would appear the SSd has just dies as its completely unresponsive and not shopwing up in bios or Acronis anymore.
Im hoping the drive isnt dead & theres some weird bug or trick someone knows about :-/
Anyone have any other conclusions or advice as to what else may be the issue here?
