    Desktop Window Manager and BSOD's

I am experienceing a multitude of BSOD's. In fact, I am in safe mode now because I cannot stay up long enought to post. It began as error messages that told me that the Desktop Window Manager had shut down, and usually within 2 or 3 minutes I would BSOD. The errors reported in the BSOD were never the same, it seemed random.

I was searching for answers here and elsewhere, but the friequency of the BSOD's and errors increased. I tried to change my video drivers, but I would crash in the install process (and BSOD) and even in Safe Mode the install would not finish.

I tried to run sfc/scannow but it failed to finish the scan every time.

I have minidumps attached, I hope someone can help.

    System:

    Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 2.66 ghz
ZALMAN 9700 LED 110mm CPU Cooler

    Crucial / 4GB / 240-pin DIMM / DDR2 PC2-5300
    Corsair CMPSU-750HX 750-Watt PSU
    Plextor 24X DVDRW SATA w/Lightscribe
    WD Caviar 320GB SATA-3G HD 7200/16MB/SATA-3G

    Down

Now my machine will not boot at all. About 20 minutes after my last post it began to cycle through reboots to the recovery screen. Nothing in the recovery system is working, and when I reboot it fails again and goes back to recovery.

I am starting to think the hard drive is bad?

I hope someone can read the dumps and give me a clue to what is happening.

    BSOD's

I am sorry for the bumps, but after a single reply I am getting none to this thread. I am getting frantic. My machine is completely down now, and I could really use some help interpreting the dumps. I don't know if I am facing a software or hardware problem, or perhaps a virus missed by my virus scan.

PLEASE, can someone take a look at my dumps?

    shameless bump

Ok, I will try one more time to bump this and get a reply. I can see that two people have looked at my dmp files, but i have gotten no responses. At this point, my machine is crashing to BSOD even when in Safe Mode, so without any guidance from anyone here, my only option is to format and reinstall the OS. The problem is, I don't know if this is a software problem, or a hardware one.

Can anyone tell from the minidumps what is causing this?

    Hi mac173,
had a look at your latest dump. Theres a problem with your nvidia driver or card. Upgrade your drivers.

    BSOD

I deleted the video driver day before yesterday, after the dumps. The crashes have continued, and gotten worse. I could not install new ones because the machine crashes before I can load the new driver, so the default windows driver is in use.

Well all but one of these was caused by memory. what I would do is download memtestx86 and run it for 5 passes.

I would also run a system file check to verify and repair your system files
(to do that type cmd in search>right click and run as admin>sfc scannow)

Le us know if you need help with any of this

    THANKS,

    You are the BEST!

I have run sfc, but it keeps crashing. I get 86% done, or 16%, 32% etc and it stops saying it cannot continue. Memory would explain that. Good news is that the memory is all only 4 months old, so I can get replacements.

I will get memtest86 burned to a disk tonight and run it overnight.

    Thanks again.
