Burn your HD maker's diagnostics/repair utility to CD, boot to run a full diag/repair scan.

This followed by chkdsk will give it a clean bill of health.

Then zero the HD and reinstall Win7.

    Windows 7 installation

My laptop decided to stop booting so I decided to reinstall windows.

The problem I have is that it keeps getting stuck at a black screen!

It says press any key to boot from cd/DVD. I pres the key. It then says windows is loading files. Immediatley after this it goes to a black screen the disk stops spinning and I just have a black screen with a mouse cursor.

Do you think my hardrive is broken?

Yeh I think so. I just took the hardrive out and the DVD worked fine. When I put the hardrive back in it's not even showing up on the boot options and I know it's connected properly. Does that prove that the harddrive broken?
