    Alas, you're not alone...

I wouldn't be too sure it's hardware related at all. I have random freezes, sometimes 2 within an hour, sometimes 1 in 24 hours and have never run stable for more than 36 hours. Completely new system, 1 month old, high end. After having tried almost everything possible, I'm convinced it is software related and, as freezing means.. no dmp, we don't have much to go on.

In my case, I'm now looking into disabeling ALL automatic update of software (W7 itself but also things like Adobe). I hav noticed that, upon restarting (hard reboot) I frequently see screens that want to continue or start some update...

Another thing I'm trying out is the role of powersaving options. Not only W7 but also in the Bios / CPU power. If I find an exact answer for my freezes, I'll let you know..

    cheers,
    Mark

I promised I'd post if my freezes where fixed:

In my case it was the smartcard reader module (its device driver). Disabled them all, in the device driver setting, both in USB as in the respective drives (i.e. g: CF-card, H: SD-card). Problem solved.
