I'm burning the first CD. Is there some precautions I should take before the tests? Like backups or somethinig?

EDIT: Im getting an error for the Hard Drive test
EDIT: An error with the Ram test too! > This file is invalid for use as the following: Security Catalog

Help pls

Neither test has been known to lose data, so I don't think you need to take precautions.

Of course, it's always a good idea to keep a backup on hand, but that is beyond the scope of this thread.

+1 for asking though.

I'm having errors with both files... The Hard Drive test seems to need a floppy disk and the RAM test is giving me an error after burning the CD! When I try to boot, it says 'This file is invalid for use as the following: Security Catalog'

Try downloading the SeaTools instead: SeaTools for Windows | Seagate

Did you burn the ISO to a CD using an ISO burner, or did you just copy the ISO to the CD using Windows?

Yes, I am aware of that. Apparently you were having trouble with the Maxtor program, so hopefully SeaTools should work instead.

For the time being, why don't you just use the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool?

could i throw a ball into this game, a few years ago i had the same problem, random restarts, could'nt find the cause, so i started removing hardware piece by piece until i found the culprit , turned out to be a loose connection on a cold cathode tube !!! so it may be worth trying all connections , reseating cards etc just in case it is something as stupid as happened to me
