Still hardware; it looks identical to the others.

Please test your RAM with Memtest86 instead of the Windows Memory Diagnostic. Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder.. Boot from the CD, and run at least 5 passes.

Have you tried updating your BIOS?

Also run a hard drive test: Hard Drive Diagnostics Tools and Utilities (Storage) - TACKtech Corp.

Did you run a test with one of the programs in the link, or did you run chkdsk?

Be sure to use the manufacturer's program to test your drive. If you are not sure what brand hard drive you have, use a program like Speccy to find out, or open up your case and read the labels.

i used the maxtor drive test as its a maxtor drive. (not a computer novice) as i was going to reply i had a BSOD ive attached the file although its probably the same as before. i did do the windows chkdsk beforehand but since then i have done the maxtor one too.

Do you have any virtual CD emulators, such as Daemon Tools?

If so, uninstall it, and see if the problems go away.

yes i do but i only load daemon tools lite when i need it and exit it when i finish with it.

i need daemon tools lite so before i do this can you tell me why you are asking me to try this?

also id like to note i have a friend online same cpu as me an asus board but different to mine kingston ram where as mines crucial and he has an ati graphics card where as i have nvidia. he is experiencing exactly the same problems as me. however he does not use any cd emulators.

i plug my phone into my pc very regularly only using it as mass storage device to store my college work. i thought before that might have been the problem but ive spent days not using it so that cant have been the problem as it was still crashing.

on the weekend my computer was crashing loads of times yet yesterday and today (so far) it hasnt crashed at all. it can go like this for upto a week then crash again!
