Windows 7: Windows 7 64-bit hanging randomly for 15-30 seconds

Windows 7 64-bit

I changed it to a small memory dump, and when it hung again, it created a dump file of 839 megs. I'm going to have to try to catch it when it hangs in a different program.

Does the HD light come on and stay lit solid during these events by any chance?

Yes, the HD light comes on a stays lit during these hangs. I've done tests on the drives with SeaTools, and everything checks out. Any other suggestions to test the drives?

I'd go for a HW problem...

try to download ProccessExplorer (formally sysinternals)

look to see whether when the system hangs the part of " Hardware Interrupts) consumes a big chunk of your system resource Memory ar probably better - the cpu.

If it does, try some HW diag tools:
HDTune -
MemTest -
System Integrity Checker - Start > Run > CMD >Right Click and Run as administrator > SFC/ SCANNOW
(thanks to Captain)

Hope that helps...

I'll take a look at that.

I tried the system integrity checker, and it did not find any integrity violations.

If the HD come on it is likely a storage driver issue. If you are using an SSD then there is a specific problem that causes this exact thing and it is called "Native Command Quing" a feature put into drivers snd rotating Hard Drives so theycould queue up may read or write commands and execute them in the order that was best for the current position of the heads.

This is not neded so much for SSD, though is available but I found that on my SSD it would frequently hang the system like this.

First I would try updating the intel or nvidia storage drivers for your mother board. If that doesn't work, turn off NCQ:

Find the SATA entry in the hardware manager for the drive in question and then fin the setting in one of the tabs to turn off Native Command Queing (NCQ).

The one side effect of this that I've seen is that the Windows Experince Index will not run. It bails out at testing the HD :/

Computer randomly freezing for a couple seconds.
Hello all! I am having a weird issue with my computer. My computer seems to randomly freeze when it is not in game. I recently installed some new ram and thought that was the problem so I checked it with memtest 86 (not memtest 86+ since it didn't work with my UEFI bios) overnight and when I woke...

Windows 7 randomly freezes for 30 seconds at a time
To be more specific, it seems to just stutter. When I watch a video it will play a very slow, stuttery version of the dialogue that just happened. Same with music playing. But the mouse and screen are frozen. When I start up my computer it doesn't happen yet but after a while (especially, it...

Computer shuts off randomly, mostly during first few seconds of bootup
My computer has been running fine for the past 2 years plus, but recently I've had a bunch of BSODs with titles like PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA, MEMORY_MANAGEMENT, SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION and BAD_POOL_HEADER but after reformatting the computer appears to be fine until the past few weeks. My...
