Windows 7 64-bit hanging randomly for 15-30 seconds

I've been using Windows 7 64-bit for several months, but just a couple weeks ago it began hanging randomly. It doesn't matter what program I'm in, randomly the program will stop responding, and I'll get the message "Not Responding" in the title bar of the app. The mouse and keyboard still work during this time, and I can bring up the task manager (which shows nothing out of the ordinary). But the app is completely frozen during this time, and I get the spinning cursor. After the hang, which takes 15-30 seconds, everything goes back to normal.

I've been unable to pinpoint the problem. I've done tests on my hard drives and memory, and they seem to check out fine.

Any help would be appreciated. I'm open to entertaining any ideas that might help solve this problem.

Can anyone help? What other information do you need to know to diagnose this problem?

Well it's been 2 days and no replies. I've been watching to see if anyone knows a good solution, but none came.

Try my trial-and-error method of a repair install, or maybe a system restore to get to a point before the problem began.

Your problem could be malware related

I ran a scan of malwarebytes in safe mode, and it came up with 1 object found:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\NoActiveDesktopChange s (Hijack.DisplayProperties) -> Bad: (1) Good: (0) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.

From the malwarebytes forums it seems that is a false positive.

Next time it happens open task manager>right click the hung process>click create DMP file. Find it and upload it using these instructions. https://www.sevenforums.com/crash-loc...d-problem.html

So it just hung while I was in Adobe Illustrator, and I went to the task manager, and created a DMP file of the Illustrator process. The DMP file it made is 609 megabytes in size. That's probably not good to upload.

Maybe I'll wait until it hangs in Firefox, or another app.

Go here (see pic) and make it a small memory DMP. configure it as shown. Next time DMP will be smaller.

You can still park that DMP on a service like rapid share and give us the link.

To be more specific, it seems to just stutter. When I watch a video it will play a very slow, stuttery version of the dialogue that just happened. Same with music playing. But the mouse and screen are frozen. When I start up my computer it doesn't happen yet but after a while (especially, it...
