Win 7 sometimes crashes on startup

I've got an issue with my system sometimes crashing on startup. It will automatically restart the system, and recommend me to run the recovery assistant (don't remember if that's the correct name). This recovery assistant won't find any problems, but it does seem to have some details about the problem. It didn't seem to offer me writing this info to file though, only sending or not sending it to microsoft.

I saw you could run the command prompt from this recovery assistant, and I thought I could use this to run "edit" and then paste the info (you could copy it to clipboard), but it seems like edit isn't included in win 7 anymore.

    Any help please?

Once the system boots, which it usually does, it works just fine. It's just damn annoying that every now and then (might even be 50% chance, haven't started the system that many times yet) windows will fail to start.

    I'm running windows 7 x64 I might add.

    Are your drivers updated?

Win 7 has configured most of the drivers, I suppose. Installed the newest graphic card drivers a day ago.

Note that my system crashed the first time win 7 started up (after completing installation), and then ran just fine the second time.

Isn't there a way to write the info in the report to file? I think it would help us solve this problem.

I've tried restarting, shutting down and starting up my system several times now, w/o this issue occuring. But next time it does, I'll try opening notepad and writing the info to file, alt. just copying it by hand (what a pain). I'll leave a reply here once I know more.

    Thanks

The computer has been working great for a couple of days now, so I thought this problem had gone away by itself, but then all of the sudden it crashed 2 times in a row when trying to start it up.

I have made progress, but not yet found a definite solution. I've discovered that when this happens, if I turn off the computer (completely) and let it be turned off for 30 seconds, it's very unlikely it'll happen again. However, if I just restart it, it will most likely occur.

This made me question my ddr memory, wondering if it really was working properly. So I downloaded memtest 3.5, and, as it turns out, my computer will restart after a few seconds into the test (always at the same spot). Doesn't matter if I've had my computer turned off before or not. Also, once it has restarted in this manner, I won't be able to boot windows (it'll restart), until I have turned off the computer for 30 seconds. This really, really made me think my memories were broken. So I put one of my memories out, tested it in memtest 3.5. It worked fine. Switched slots. Worked fine. Tested the other one and did the same thing - everything working fine.

I also tested memtest 3.2, 3.4 and memtest+ 1.65, all working fine with both memories inserted. However, in memtest 3.5 (with both memories inserted), my computer will always restart, and keep restarting until I shut it down completely.

So I don't quite know what to make out of it. For now, I'm just sticking with shutting down my pc completely if this occurs. I haven't had this problem for a looong time. But every now and then, it might happen.
