Windows 7 keeps crashing

Hi. I have had Windows 7 crash 3 times today. I've never experienced an OS this bad... at least with prior versions I could CTRL-ALT-DELETE to figure out what process was hanging up. With this, I don't even know where to begin. BTW, my company required me to use this OS. I have had to literally hit the start button to restart my machine. On a positive note, good job getting the OS to start in less than 10 minutes. That's progress.

The crashing seems to be getting worse. The first couple weeks it worked fine (I've had it a month now).

Of note: I heavily rely on running Citrix applications through https://. I have outlook open often and configured to pick up email from Customer Login. I also have a card reader and smart card in use regularly, along with basic windows apps such as Excel/Word. Other than that, I haven't done anything unusual to this machine and don't go to any suspect websites.

Please help. Thanks.

Hi, and welcome to the forums , could you please fill in your system specs under User CP, this will help us a lot.

A few general tips that may help:
Make sure Windows is up to date.
Make sure all of your drivers are up to date (this is especially important if you've upgraded your PC from XP or Vista)
Check you don't have any malware or viruses using AntiMalware Bytes.
It may be worth checking for registry errors if you haven't done so recently (last 6 months) using a program such as CCleaner

Try doing these suggestions and post back with any results.

One PISSED OFF Microsoft Windows 7 User

I have updated my profile with my system specs.

WHERE are the Microsoft employees?

WHY am I getting help on here from MAC and AAPL users??

WTF is wrong with this company? Have they not yet figured out how to invent a system that does not crash!!???

I added my system specs. I sure hope businesses in general give up on Microsoft. Please help me resolve this issue. It crashed, randomly, again today and I have no idea where to look or how to fix this.

Hey Kevin - Win7 is a beautiful OS. Best I've ever used of all of them by a huge margin. There must be something specific to your machine or environment causing issues.

First thing I'd do is run without any AV or firewall and see if things improve, as a test. Especially if you have AVG on there. Uninstall, as just disabling will not alleviate issues.

We can help you better if that doesn't by you taking the following steps:

1) Type msinfo32 in the start menu search box. Hit enter.
2) File | save
3) Zip or rar the saved file and attach to your next post.

These are not paid Microsoft employees. They are people who try to help other people with their problems with little to no compensation. (other than feeling good that you helped someone)

Please be patient..... There are a lot of highly skilled computer users on here to help you get to the bottom of your issue.

Did this PC come pre-installed with Windows 7?

Have you installed Windows 7 yourself on this PC? If you have.... Did you perform an "upgrade" installation or a clean install of 7?

Thanks. I'll try these things and get back to you guys.

I noticed Microsoft doesn't dole out any support without charging you $259 for a phone call. There is a "virtual assistant" that is a complete joke. You will not find a single email or phone number on Microsoft Support online. These guys shouldn't be in business. Period. What a complete sham.
