Its causing some abnormal cache and memory thrashing for some reason when scanning data that changes within memory.

Bad RAM can crash at any moment, for no apparent reason. Right now, I am suffering from memory errors. I only get them when the last 2GB are being used, when I am running my virtual machines. Funny thing is, though, that even loaded to the max, it doesn't always crash.
the annoying thing with that is its impossible to tell which stick is the culprit these days as the channel controllers intermix the ram addresses unlike with single channel controllers where the modules addresses accumulate.
squall leonhart,
Please supply the evidence to support your theory.

get process monitor / diskmon and test it yourself, im not risking my data with that crapware.

had enough problems removing it from my aunts pc once it had started locking up the disk activity on startups.

heres a relatively informative link though

The evidence you provided was underwhelming.
Just to put your comments into perspective - I have been using the paid version of AVG Anti Virus on 2 x64-bit laptops for years & have never had any problems. My good experience with AVG is not unique.................
Now to get back on topic................

I can add to that too. Been using the free AVG antivirus for years, and so do my friends - and we definitely don't have the same OS'. I have been using personally on 98SE, XP and now on Win 7 x64. Across the group of friends I can enumerate XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 2000 Server, all in either x32 or x64 versions.

hahah. That actually translates into " Cu foarte multa placere" in this case, but it can also translate into " Esti foarte bine venit " when referring to a place ( you are welcome in my house)

By a huge margin, AVG is responsible for the most bsod compared to any other software or driver in existence. It's just a fact.

You thinking what I was thinking? The silly antivirus trying to scan the cached memory and/or pagefile, that cycles and suddenly wants to scan something that's not there anymore?! Just another supposition.

No it doesn't. What needs to be done on any machine having bsod with AVG, is a complete removal of AVG and then a report on how things are going.
