    CRC errors

    Hi,

Every file ive downloaded lately when i try to extract it keeps telling me that the file is corrupt or destroyed, im starting to think there is something wrong with my windows 7 for some reason.

Been trying to download and install World of warcraft since my cd for WOTLK has gone missing, ive been trying 2 different torrent ones and 1 full client download, i refuse to believe that their all suffering from the same since i talked to the site owner of one of the clients and he didnt have any crc errors with it.

Files i have downloaded maybe 2-3 weeks ago work fine when i try to unpack them, but not recent ones.

So im starting to think, what can cause crc errors within windows to screw up everything i download ?

You have a network interface card issue or you have overclocked your CPU or RAM. Every CRC issue we've encountered has been hardware-based. Please list any and all changes to software and hardware for the last three weeks. Thanks.

I have added another 4 gig of RAM to my computer so it now runs 8 gig DDR3 1600 Mhz , though in unganged mode since the computer refuses to boot up in ganged mode at 1600 mhz, the RAM are made for 1600 Mhz, but possibly have something to do with their voltage.

Haven't oc'd my computer, can try and download a new driver for my network card.

No software changes really other than what was installed when windows got on the machine.

CRC errors are often caused by bad cables. If you are using an ethernet cable to connect to your network swap it out for a known good.

Have you run Memtest for a long period of time on the system since the new memory has been installed?

Havent run any memtest since i put the new memory in, havent had any performance problems , I am running with a different network cable since I changed ISP and needed longer cable to reach the cable modem, had dsl before so I'm sure it has nothing to do with that

Are you using an older version of WinRAR? The reason I ask is because if you attempt to open an archive which was created with a later version (3.xx) using an older version (2.xx) you will get crc errors.

If you are using a current version, have you tried to rebuild the archive using the Repair option? Sometimes that is successful.
