    Explorer Stops responding restart loop

I have been searching for a fix to my problem. As soon as windows starts I get explorer has stopped responding and is restarting, have tried starting in Safe mode and it does the same. Have tried sfc /scannow and has not fixed the problem. I read somewhere that it may be a file that did not download properly so deleted everything in the downloads folder. Found a folder in my downloads folder that would not delete, so went up one level and deleted the whole downloads folder and made the directory again. This did not fix the problem. I managed to get to the action center and found that explorer.exe had the problem cansued by faulting module path c:\windows\system32\thumbcache.dll. Not sure what this file does, or where to go from here and help would be much appreciated.

Well after staying up all night I have managed to fix this problem, so in case any of you have the same problem I am letting you know how I finally fixed it, but maybe since I have not had any reply maybe I am the only one to have this problem or maybe my timezone was differant to everyone else and they were sleeping. Well after trying everything I could find on the net including deleting tons of stuf that had pictures as thumbnails, I think what it was in the end was by running the cmd command with administrator rights, and scheduling a chkdsk after reboot using the chkdsk /f /r, now this took about 2 hours on a 120gb hard drive, but after this myu machine was working so well worth the wait. I had tried chkdsk before quite a few times but with only the /f so not sure if anyone else will benefit from this but I used this forum to ask for help, and will do in the future, so felt that I should at least let you know this problem is fixed.
