    BSOD while playing Metro 2033

To make long story short, I have experienced some BSODs while playing Metro 2033, I looked at .DMP files and found the following drivers that caused BSOD - CompositeBus.sys and blbdrive.sys. I googled and could not find anything that would explain which application(s) use these drivers. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the aforementioned drivers.

Afterwards another .DMP is generated referring to Watchdog.sys

BSOD caused by blbdrive.sys occurred while running under Catalyst 10.3
BSOD caused by CompositeBus.sys occurred while running under Catalyst 10.4

Also, I have only experienced this issue while running Metro 2033 everything seems to be fine.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

CompositeBus.sys and blbdrive.sys are Windows components and, as such, they probably aren't the cause of the crash.

The 2 dump files that you have uploaded don't list these problems - rather they blame your video driver/device.
    I would suggest:
    - uninstall all ATI software from your system using Control Panel...Programs...Uninstall a program
    - download the Display Driver only (select Individual Catalyst Components after clicking on your specific graphics adapter link) from this link: Drivers & Support | GAME.AMD.COM
    - install the driver and see if you still experience BSOD's

If you still have issues, then we'll have to try some hardware tests - please let us know the exact make and model of your system - along with the exact make and model of your ATI graphics card.

Also, please remove or update these older drivers that were loaded at the time of the crash. Don't use Windows Update or the Update drivers function of Device Manager.
Please use the following instructions to locate the most currently available drivers to replace the one's that you uninstall OR remove:
    How To Find Drivers:
    - search Google for the name of the driver
    - compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
    - visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
    - if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.
    - - The most common drivers are listed on this page: http://www.carrona.org/dvrref.html
    - - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: http://www.carrona.org/drvrdown.html

Here's the older drivers. Please pay particular attention to any dated 2007 or earlier:
    Code:
    000.fcl Fri Sep 26 09:11:22 2008 - CyberLink FCL Driver - http://www.carrona.org/dvrref.html#000.fcl

    Thank you for you reply,

    - I have uninstalled Catalyst 10.3 and installed 10.4 yesterday then I got BSOD.
    -My system is Alienware Aurora - Core i7 960 3.2GHz | 12GB of RAM | 5870 CrossFire.
-I only get random BSOD while playing Metro 2033 and in some situation game simply locks up and I have to hard reboot.
-When I was using Catalyst 10.1 I had a few crashes but no BSOD and computer did not lock up I simply CTRL+ALT+DEL and restarted the game.

On another note, perhaps the network driver does have something to do with it because I got the error around 7:13pm, then I booted back up, I saw that my Steam was updated with file time stamp 7:17. Perhaps it was trying to update while I was gaming but the old network driver does not function properly while computer is in 3D mode?

I did search on my computer and all BASFND.SYS files are from 2009.
    -I uninstalled CyberLink.
-Disabled FireWire and ATI High Definition Audio in Device Manager as I do not use them anyway.
I will play some Metro 2033 on the weekend.

Again, I got BSOD after playing Metro 2033 for about 3 hours. The strange thing is both times when I got BSOD my Steam files were updated a few minutes after.

Can Steam update cause BSOD while gaming? In other words, if Steam installs or attempts to install an update while gaming causes BSOD?

Thank you for the reply. I checked my network adapter driver and it is dated sometime in 2009. I did search for all BASFND.sys files on computer and they are all dated 2009. But I will double-check again, once get home.

    I forgot this little trick:
    7: kd> lmvm basfnd
    start end module name
    fffff880`02bc3000 fffff880`02bca000 BASFND (deferred)
    Image path: \??\C:\Program Files\Broadcom\MgmtAgent\BASFND.sys
    Image name: BASFND.sys
    Timestamp: Thu Apr 24 19:17:12 2003 (3EA87078)
    CheckSum: 000042F6
    ImageSize: 00007000
    Translations: 0000.04b0 0000.04e4 0409.04b0 0409.04e4
Rename the BASFND.sys file (at the location noted in red above) to BASFND.BAK
Reboot and see if that stops the BSOD.

I completely uninstalled Broadcom Control Suite, so I do not have any BASFND.SYS files in my system. I will keep you posted.

Double check to ensure that there's nothing at C:\Program Files\Broadcom\MgmtAgent\BASFND.sys
