Was there any recent hardware or driver changes ? If so, you might want to use the install disk to do a system restore and see if you can boot back in.

Before hand i did try to do a system restore, however it came back to the same startup repair thingy so i decided to go for a fresh install oh the error for the startup repair was a bad driver?

I still do not quite understand.

Following a fresh install you still got the restarts ?

After the system restore you still got the restarts ?

I am basically asking to see if it happens all the time or after you installed some drivers. If it happens all the time at the start up it could be your graphics card acting up or something within the OS. Random restarts/crashing is usually RAM related. Anyway I need some more info to be able diagnose further.

1.ok to clear the misunder standing yep when the problem start i did a system restore however the problem was still there (restarts when windows starting logo)

2.I did a fresh install, after the configuration for first time use the os booted up. I restarted and test to see if it will boot up normaly but it went back to square one.

so could it have been my grafics card overheated?? its less than a month old. The thing that is bugging me is that im still able to acess through safe mode and use the internet but i am however UNABLE to boot normaly at all, even when booting by CD/DVD after windows loading files it reaches the logo and RESTARTS!

Ram test also indicated that ram modules were proplery seated

You should reset to the default settings in your BIOS to make sure that you did not change anything that you shouldn't have. Next I would go here and download new drivers for your card and install them in safe mode and see if you can boot into Windows normally after that.

That should eliminate a couple problems. Your card should be fine it has an automatic fan control built in to protect it, plus you would not see anything in safe mode it your card was dead. I have also seen this happen from a corrupt OS install, but it is probably driver related if it works in safe mode. Try those things and get back to us and we can give you more things to try if that does not work.

hmm thanks for the help but firstly how excatly am i suppose to get the bios to default settings if i cannot see anything on the screen (its all black and says no video input) my motherboard is a DH55C* intel Bios it says press F2 to and then F9 to set to defaults and F10 to safe and exit on boot. However i have tried this many times and still recive no video input because the BIOS is telling the vedio display adapter to display from a external PCI express card(this was my mistake)

    2. Before this problemed happened and i was in safe mode i was UNABLE to install the ati Catalayst 10.4(latest driver for the HD 5850) error given was no driver found.... and in the device manager i was only able to see the standard VGA apdater under display tab , i was unable to see my card series under the display tab..

I just recently encountered this exact problem. Computer was restarting after the welcome screen, I tried a system restore, checked my ram, and finally tried a fresh install. The problem was still there. I just (minutes ago) downloaded and installed the lastest version drivers for my graphics card (Geforce GTX 240) in safe mode. I restarted and have been up out of safe mode ever since.
