BSOD 1x a day NEW machine HP Touchsmart i7 600q

Hi, I have a one month old HP Touchsmart 600q i7 computer that I purchased with windows 7 home premium and then upgraded to windows 7 pro 64 bit. It has a BSOD relatively often, usually occurring near midnight or when the computer is about to go into idle, but not always.

I have done all the diagnostics the machine has, checked drivers (although the newest nvidia geforce 230 driver is listed on their website, that will not install. I did uninstall it and reinstall it from the HP website, but no change.) Everything seems great and up-t0-date. I just downloaded and burned to DVD windows debugging and after figuring out how to access symbol library analyzed some of the crash dumps, which seem to be of around two different varieties.

    from last night:

I suspect AVG and your network adapter drivers.

Uninstall AVG and run its removal tool when you're done: http://download.avg.com/filedir/util...removerx64.exe

Then download and install Microsoft Security Essentials.

    Update your network adapter drivers:

    Code:
    fffff880`01eb4000 fffff880`01ec0000 RtNdPt60 RtNdPt60.sys Mon Dec 10 21:49:52 2007 (475DFAD0)
Please post any new dmps that come.

My husband might have a fit. I know he installed AVG remotely from where he has his multiple licenses on our server. I guess he may not have a choice?

About the network drivers, it says they are up-to-date. Is the line you posted concerning Realtek? We disabled Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller since it is not being used. Should it be uninstalled?

    Thanks again!

Yep, that is Realtek, and should be updated or removed.

Hang onto the license key for AVG, if you have the paid version. That way, in case you ever decided to go back, you don't need to pay for a new license.

AVG is notorious for causing BSODs. I suspect that once you install MSE, you won't want to go back again.

Unfortunately, another blue screen. We took off AVG, ran the removal tool for it, uninstalled the Realtek ethernet card, and installed Windows Security Essentials. Attached is the latest dump file.

Thank you for your help, it is very appreciated!

Try disabling your Infared port in your BIOS, or update the drivers for it if you use it.

Invalid system memory was referenced. This cannot be protected by try-except,
it must be protected by a Probe. Typically the address is just plain bad or it
    is pointing at freed memory.
    Arguments:
    Arg1: fffffdda0000013a, memory referenced.
    Arg2: 0000000000000000, value 0 = read operation, 1 = write operation.
Arg3: fffff88000e87242, If non-zero, the instruction address which referenced the bad memory
        address.
    Arg4: 0000000000000007, (reserved)

May I ask how I might go about disabling it? Also, is it used? Would that be "Consumer IR devices?" I checked that and it said it is latest drivers. Thankie!

Go into your BIOS and look around. See if you can figure out how to disable the built-in IR port.

Uninstall anything "Consumer IR Devices" in Programs and Features and in Device Manager.
