Hi and welcome to the forums .

To get rid of the BSoD it's worth doing a system restore (System Restore) or if that doesn't work a repair install (Repair Install).

Hopefully this will get you back into windows although the Sims 3 will probably have uninstalled itself due to the system restore.

From here you can see if installing the Sims 3 again causes the same problem which it hopefully won't.

If you have any questions please ask.

Thanks for the reply, i tried a system restore once it had the same error, but then they all failed thereafter, you have to do a repair install from within windows so it loks like ill have to move my files using ubuntu and do a clean install.

It's probably worth doing the backup using Ubuntu anyway but it is a misconception that a clean install actually wipes the HDD.

If you don't want it to format your drive it will put all the files on the HDD in the Windows.old folder in the C:\ Drive and then install Windows again.

I only used ubuntu to backup my folder since i can replace all of the other programs, i have formated the drive anyway, i just as well carry out a full install

Sure thing, whatever gets the job done.

I hope you get the Sims 3 installed correctly.
