Windows 7: Can someone please help me understand the crash dump?!

Windows 7 Professional x64

I don't see any programs I recognize as using sptd.sys. Type msconfig into the start menu, and press enter. In the Services tab, disable sptd.sys.

I did that but there were no services listed as sptd.sys or sptd.

The only thing I can guess then is Sony Erickson PC Suite.

Could you also post a screenshot of the Startup tab of msconfig?

I don't mind uninstalling the Sony Ericsson Suite since I don't use it often. Here is the startup. Thanks for helping me!

Windows 7 Professional

Hi. I think the problem is caused by more than what I thought it was. I left my computer running and it crashed 2x in the past hour. Here are the crash dumps.

I did mess with the drivers a bit since I was still updating everything. So today, I updated my audio drivers, the firmware for the DVD RW and Intelฎ Chipset Device Software, which installs INF files. I am not sure what is the cause anymore. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I forgot to mention the 2nd BSOD, I didn't even log in to windows. It was on the user login screen and it crashed.

Ok! I just turned it on. This is one the times where I am hoping it will crash now. Thank you so much!

I was updating the firmware for my dvd-rom drive and when it restarted and logged back into Windows, it crashed. I have uploaded the minidump. I hope I am right about this. I rebooted and it seems fine again.

Also, after deleting SPTD.sys from drivers folder, I am getting the error in event logger: The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load: sptd. How do I fix this?

Thanks again!

Both of these claim to be caused by win 7 files but I dont believe it. they both refernce memory in their bug checks and that makes a whole lot more sense.

I would do two things

In case it was a system file run a system file check
type cmd in search>right click and run as admin>sfc /scanow

for the memory download memtestx86, burn it to cd, and run it for at least 5 passes

Let us know if you need help

Windows 7 Professional

Hi Ken! Thanks for the advice.

I ran the sfc before but there were no errors. But this time, it actually came up with something. I have no idea how to fix it since the window said that some files could not be repaired. How can I fix that?

Attachment 73924

I only attached the window because the log file is 9 mb so I can't upload that.

Also, I ran memtest 3 or 4 days ago for 5 passes and there were no errors.

Thanks again for all the help!
