    Trying to Repair Windows 7

First - I hope that this is the correct forum for this problem.
Somehow I corrupted several files within Windows 7 and when I try to use my OEM disk to repair Windows, all I get is a message that it cannot find the "virtual machine" and then that's as far as I can get.
IE-8 is the major problem - it won't run at all. There are several other things, but they may be related to IE-8's problem.
I cannot download a new copy of IE-8 from Microsoft because they say it's on my disc.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you.

First, thank you for responding. How do I "reset" IE-8? I cannot even open it. It reminds me of when the registry goes completely bonkers and you lose all interconnections.

There is no download of IE-8 for Windows 7. Microsoft says that it's on the Windows disc, so they don't provide it. IE-8 is downloadable for other versions of Windows - would those work with Win7?

    MadMan -
I truly appreciate you responding to my posts regarding the problem I have. Unfortunately, as I said previously, I cannot open IE-8 at all, therefore there is no way I can do as you suggest. Any other ideas?

    MadMan -
I thank you for trying, but nothing worked. Apparently the registry was so damaged that the only thing that could be done was to start all over again and completely reload Windows from scratch. It now works fine. Thanks again.
