    Regular Freezes and BSODs

    Hi folks,
I hope someone can help me get to the bottom of the instability problems I'm having with my Windows 7 PC. I'm getting a freeze once every two or three sessions, which I have to do a hard reset to escape. Also, when the machine is left to sleep, it will often, but not always, do a BSOD, with error 9F, driver_power_state_failure.
    I've tried updating all drivers.
My sleep problems improved when I deleted my old Windows folder, Windows.old. Before I did that I couldn't wake the computer from the keyboard - I had to use the power switch - and there was no hibernate option. I guess drivers were being used from the Windows.old folder by mistake.
By the way I didn't upgrade, I did a clean install of Win 7, but on a disk with Win XP.
Attached are some of my most recent dump files.
    Thanks!

These were all caused by your realtek network driver. I would download a fresh copy and install it

    Hi Ken,
    Thanks for checking that out.
I've done my best to remove all existing LAN drivers and have installed the latest Realtek ones.
    Fingers crossed.

Well, sadly that didn't do it, though I'm confident that I have the latest Realtek LAN drivers installed. Same BSOD when the computer was left to sleep.
    Here's the latest dump file.
    Best wishes.

Your latest dump file is still pointing to a Realtek driver issue.

A system search shows that I have old versions of Rt64win7.sys in this folder:
    C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\netrtx64.inf_amd64_neutral_410e89ed86071c9b

    and this folder:
    C:\Windows\winsxs\amd64_netrtx64.inf_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_aa7bee9a02fd3a89

The other copies on the machine, including in the System32 folder, are all the most up to date.

Do you think this is relevant?

Well it looked as though this was probably down to Zone Alarm. It's been reported to cause freezes with MS Security Essentials. Also its driver vsdatant.sys caused a problem straight away when I tried verifying drivers. Things have been fine since uninstalling it. Fingers crossed again.

ZA is known cause of BSOD's on some Win 7 systems. I am not able to run it. Here's hopping your problem is solved!
