    Explorer crash, no bsod

When I installed windows 7 Home professional X64 for the first time I got the message "explorer doesnt work anymore and is closed" Also my aero theme was gone and there was no sound anymore. My themes look like the 'windows 7 basic theme. I've read and tried all the related topics on this forum and tried everything but I cant find a working solution for my problem.

Every time I install a program or open the configurationmenu I get the message "explorer will be closed" and "restarting explorer"

I installed the latest drivers for my video and audiocard and my motherboard.

    my specs:

    GIgabyte p35c DS3R motherboard
    Quad core processor Q9650
    8 GB 1066 DDR2 memory
    PoV Geforce GTX275 896mb
    Creative X-FI soundcard
    Intel X25 80 gb SSD
    Samsung SPinpoint f1 1 TB

I also have windows 7 x32 installed on another partition and I dont have any problems there.

I uploaded a dumpfile on my skydrive, here is the link:

    Run SFC

    START -> type cmd.exe -> Right-click -> run as admin -> type sfc /scanonce -> restart computer.

I am not too sure as to whether running Win 7 x86 and Win 7 x64 off the same hard drive is a good idea (even though they are different partitions) - we will see if SFC can fix it first.

My w7 x32 is on my SSD drive and X64 is on different harddrive. I tested it with and without both drives but the effect is the same. SFC gave no problems..

You need to upload your minidump folder. Somebody here will debug them for you.

Edit: Ignore this post. Just noticed there was no bsod.

Can you also follow these instructions (I know they are from another forum, but the guy who wrote them posts here too): Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions - Tech Support Forum

They will output system info, including event logs to a folder. Zip it up and post it here.

You know, I ran into this issue on my Dell (Inspiron 1545) when I first got it. I went through some debugging with Microsoft (and they were extremely responsive by the way). We drilled down to the point where it seemed to be the Mobile Device Center - I had a 32-bit version installed in W7-64. We replaced it and the problem *seemed* to go away for awhile.

A few weeks later, though, the issue came back. Kept crashing Explorer. Most of the time it would happen when I opened the context menu on the desktop. It got to the point where I simply could not operate the system without crashing Explorer.

I realized that I was using the OEM install of the O/S - so I re-installed it from scratch. This time I made sure I paid attention to any extra drivers I was installing - to ensure I didn't install 32-bit ones if the 64-bit were available. Since that time I haven't had any problems at all. Completely reliable now.

We never did, though, determine for sure what the issue was. I'm betting that a low-level 32-bit driver was still on the system - we just couldn't find it.

    HTH,

There were a few interesting items in your Perfmon report.

And in English (courtesy of Google Translate):
The classification 'Graphic View' for the system is bad and this can cause performance issues. You may be able to improve graphics performance desktop composition disable or reduce the screen resolution. If the problem persists, the display adapter may need an updated driver or an upgrade.
    And in English:
The processor rating for the system is bad and this can cause performance problems. You may improve system performance by closing a number of open applications. Check for unnecessary startup applications and turn them off. If the problem persists, you may need to upgrade the processor
    And in English:
The classification 'Disk' for the system is poor and this can cause performance problems. You may improve system performance by closing a number of open applications. Make sure there is enough space on the disk and that it is defragmented. Check for unnecessary startup applications and turn them off. If the problem persists, you may need to upgrade the disk.
    And in English:
The restriction for the system memory is very poor and this can cause performance problems. You may improve system performance by a number of open applications to close. Check for unnecessary startup applications and turn them out. If the problem persists, you may need to perform an upgrade.
All of the above is pretty strange considering you are running a Quad-Core with 8 gig of RAM.

The event logs do not shed much light either - There are more than a few crashes, but they mention system files only.

Given the range and severity of the issues I would suggest that you move all your files to your 32 bit Windows 7, then completely re-install the x64 OS.

Wipe the hard drive with killdisk before installing.

Download from here: Active@ Kill Disk. Hard Drives Eraser. Free Download.

Then burn the ISO to a CD using ImgBurn: The Official ImgBurn Website

Boot from CD, make sure you have disconnected your SSD, just to be safe.

My Windows 7 x32 is on my SSD drive and X64 is on different harddrive.
I was assuming that you the x32 was on a different physical hard drive. If this is the case and you just do not have enough space to move all your files over... well external Hard Drives are not really that expensive. (see Newegg.com - SAMSUNG STORY Station Plus 1TB USB 2.0 / eSATA External Hard Drive HX-DE010EB for an example)
