BSOD
Hi,
I have attached my minidump file. Can anyone please help me figure out what is causing the multiple BSOD. It all began when I attempted to use a bluetooth dongle which I have since removed and removed all software for (well at least I think I have). Since then it is Ok for a while (days) then will crash many times in a day. Thanks. |

This one was very straight forward ...Memory corruption... Download memtest86 and let it run overnight for at least 5 passes... Post your results...

thanks! I am not very technical - the computer has a raid 5 set-up and also a solid state drive. Can I run the memtest86 on it?

Yes.. your Raid array will not pose any problem... download the ISO image and burn it as an image file ... boot from the disc and let it do its thing... Let us know if you have any problems.. :)

As its name suggests, memtest only tests your actual memory, that is your RAM. It does not touch your HDDs or SSDs - there are other programs available that can test these.

Thanks for the replies. I am having trouble downloading and saving memtest86 to cd but will figure it out Im sure. The computer has 12 gb of RAM (4 sticks of 3GB) - I noticed Memtest says to use with 4Gb or less - is this per stick or in total?

Here's some more analysis on your dmps.
Update these old drivers or their respective programs. Code:

- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to - visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager). - if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program. - - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: Drivers and Downloads If Memtest checks back clean after 5+ passes, follow these instructions for enabling driver verifier: Using Driver Verifier to identify issues with Drivers Code:

How do you know the drivers have not been updated?
Go ahead and do the memory test as recommended above. If you get any more dmps, please upload them. |
