Windows 7: Blue Screen Crash, Event ID 41, kernel-power

31 May 2010   #11

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

The blue screen problem has definitely been resolved by removing the sbapifs file ... thank you Ken!

I'm wondering if the new dump file I posted in post #10 indicates a specific hardware issue that caused my computer to instantly shut down to black screen and reboot?

Here is the latest dump file immediately after my machine instantly shut down to black screen and rebooted a few minutes ago. Hope this helps.

The latest dump, dated 5/30/2010, still blames sbapifs.sys.

I booted into safe mode to search for the Sbapifs.sys file and my machine shut down mid-search. I repeated this and the search came back as 'no items match'.

Eiith the erratic behavior of this file I am starting to wonder about the possiblility of a virus. If you have not please run a complete virus check.

Please run a scan with Malwarebytes.

Remove Norton. I have seen it cause countless BSODs, and needs to be uninstalled ASAP. Microsoft Security Essentials is a great free choice, guaranteed not to cause problems, because it's made by Microsoft.

Be sure to run this Norton removal tool:

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

First, I’d like to thank Ken, Carl S, & Jonathan for all your help. I successfully removed the Sbapifs file and uninstalling Ad-Aware Pro stopped the system from regenerating it. The BSOD problem I had within Photoshop CS5 and a certain plugin has now been resolved.

As for the hardware problem which was causing immediate shut down and reboot of my system, we are experimenting to see if it is a heat-related issue. We repositioned a fan directly over the video card yesterday morning and so far, my machine has not shut down unexpectedly. In the past few weeks I’ve gone as long as three days without a problem so I’ll know for sure in a few more days.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Everything seemed ok until this morning, approximately 30 minutes after turning on my computer. I was just web surfing when my computer snapped off, followed by a reboot. There is no blue screen and there are no error codes given other than a startup screen informing me that Windows did not shut down correctly and a choice of three startup options. Here is the latest dump file.
