Windows 7: BSOD Battlefield Bad Company

05 Jun 2010   #11

Windows 7 64-bit

Ok, this is getting annoying now - BSOD again.

I don't like my pc for the first time in my life...

Any ideas what this is now?

I've done all the steps above, I can't think what else it can be - either Win 7 64 bit is just unstable, Battlefield is badly written, or I have some faulty hardware that I can't identify.

Cheers,

~Mike

I still see SPTD.sys. Did you run this SPTD installer/remover? DuplexSecure - Downloads

Download and run it, it will give you the option to remove SPTD.

Ok, apologies - I hadn't run it correctly the first time round so hopefully I won't bother you any more!

I'll post the result either way.

memtest did 9 passes without finding a single problem so I'm fairly confident it's not my memory. How risky is using Verifier?

Ok, so here's the latest dump file after using verifier from the command line.

Try this free stress test: Free Software - GIMPS
Quote:
Prime95 Setup:
- extract the contents of the zip file to a location of your choice
- double click on the executable file
- select "Just stress testing"
- select the "Blend" test. If you've already run MemTest overnight you may want to run the "Small FFTs" test instead.
- "Number of torture test threads to run" should equal the number of CPU's times 2 (if you're using hyperthreading).
The easiest way to figure this out is to go to Task Manager...Performance tab - and see the number of boxes under CPU Usage History
Then run the test for 6 to 24 hours - or until you get errors (whichever comes first).
The Test selection box and the stress.txt file describes what components that the program stresses.

I have your board, and the memory I bought was on Asus' approved list for the P7P55D; however, I could not get it to run right until I updated the bios.

Have you a) checked to see if the board plays nice with the RAM and is on the list and b) tried updating your bios?

Since mine was giving me fits, I only used one stick and the setup defaults to run the AsusUpdate and fix my bios issue. Now, all is good... really good actually.

Of course, I don't mean that you stop doing the memtest work the guys are suggesting. I had to do all that too.

Updated the Bios

Yeah, already dealt with the BIOS update. I bought the same Motherboard, with and i5 processor, and 4GB of Black Dragon gaming RAM. It was part of a bundle from my friends at Ebuyer so tons of people should have the same set-up (and same problem if it's hardware related).

How do I find this fabled list?

Thoughts? As far as i see this game is going to be amazing upon release, as they are jumping to the bug issues in the beta released already updated it since it has been released. I think MW2 Is going to have a run for its money, own both games and i can say BC2 is a more satisfying game to play.
