Back up all of the data that you want to save and replace it .... problem solved...

Would a low level format help it at all? I am going to replace the main drive, but to use it as a second storage drive?

+1 Ken has given you good advice. I, too, have been burned trying to salvage hard drives that were beginning to fail.

I had 3 seagate's (500 gig) in a row fail within 90 days, and they were repaired and failed again. WD now

I would never use Seagate again personally.

However, the hard drive that failed was purchased last April and was a WD Caviar Black.
