Great thanks! I thought windows 7 was better at updating than that! I have done the update for ASACPI.sys. Tpkd.sys and PxHlpa64.sys are anti piracy stuff and I cant seem to sort them out - but I think they wont matter at the moment. pcouffin.sys - says its 05 12 2006 in device manager but in system32 drivers it says its 10 03 2010! If I uninstall VSO will my convertxtodvd stop working? AS in do you mean un-install convertxtodvd or just the 'VSO devices (pcouffin device for Amd 64 bit systems)' in device manager? Anyway I will carry on looking for old drivers in device manager later as well....thanks!

As much as MS spent to help manufacturers develop drivers for Win 7, I am disappointed in Windows' driver updating. Most of us here do not recommend letting Windows Update update you drivers nor using Device manager's driver update function. Read the tutorial linked below.

Drivers - Turn Off Automatic Driver Installation

Is there an update for the VSO software that is compatible with Win 7? If so, I suggest you download it, completely uninstall the current version and install the new version. If there is not a newer version, you should completely uninstall it and find another program that is compatible with Win 7.

Ok well I will be updating the VSO after I sort some other stuff out but I wont be able to tell if its all fixed for a week or so - due to the randomness of the BSODs - but I have had none yet - I will post back here if its all fine later...thanks.
