hummm, I don't know if clean-install window, then install microsoft word, excel would be good idea now
Sounds like something is blocking those programs from running, do u use any anti-virus programs

using mcafee (it was preinstalled, as was all the software - I have no cds grrr!)
I tried a restore. to the earliest I could (this laptop is only 3-4 days old, still same problem). Interestingly enough, if I try to access "desktop" under favorites, (file, open, and select desktop there, under the "favorites" THEN it hangs
If I go all the way around, so, file, open, c:, users, desktop THEN I CAN open a file. this is just plain weird. and very annoying.
any ideas? thanks in advance! :)
